Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia, a country lying between the footsteps of the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. In 2021, Ljubljana’s landmarks designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik were added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
Triple Bridge, Central Market, National and University Library — Plečnik shaped Ljubljana the way Gaudí shaped Barcelona.
European Green Capital 2016. One of Europe’s greenest capitals with parks, car-free zones, and nature at your doorstep.
Beautiful old town, dragon bridges, river cafés along the Ljubljanica, and a lively intellectual atmosphere.
Interestingly, Plečnik’s younger brother Janez Plečnik was one of the first Slovenian pathologists and a key figure in the establishment of the Medical Faculty in Ljubljana in 1919.
